Ottawa Personal Trainer – Burke Cleland

I am an Ottawa native who discovered fitness in high school. I was immediately hooked and made fitness lifestyle management the focus of my studies in college. In my twenties I began weightlifting in earnest and soon there after became a personal trainer in a large commercial gym.

It wasn’t long before I realized that I wanted to offer a client experience that couldn’t be found in a traditional gym. I wanted to create a non-judgemental environment where the individual needs of clients trumped the high-pressure sales that often play a central role in these facilities. Plus, I wanted to offer a more holistic approach to training that incorporates natural movement and injury prevention rather than just vigorous strength training.

A decade later, I started my own personal training business.

I now work independently as a personal trainer, fitness class instructor, and nutrition coach. More importantly, I work with each of my clients to create a customized plan based on their current health, physical condition, motivation, lifestyle, and goals. This empowers clients to safely and effectively improve their health and performance, and accomplish their goals.

I am always increasing my knowledge and am constantly reading and updating my training certifications. I love to work out in all sorts of ways– Rehabilitation with Bands, Kettlebells, Boxing and Tai Chi, for example –and it shows in the variety of techniques I bring into the studio to share with my clients.
